Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (MSFS 2020)

    1. Locate the Community Folder:

      • For MSFS 2020 add-ons, you need to find the Community Folder. This is where all add-ons (aircraft, scenery, liveries, etc.) go.
      • Windows Store/PC Game Pass version: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_<random characters>\LocalCache\Packages\Community
      • Steam version: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community
      • Custom Install: If you specified a custom location during installation, navigate to [Your Custom Path]\Community.
      • X-Plane 12

        1. Locate the X-Plane Directory:

          • Find where X-Plane 12 is installed on your computer. This directory will contain folders like Aircraft, Custom Scenery, and Resources.
        2. Determine Add-on Type:

          • Aircraft: Place new aircraft folders in the Aircraft directory.
          • Scenery: Place scenery files in the Custom Scenery folder.
          • Plugins: Place plugins in the Resources\plugins folder.
        3. Download and Extract:

          • Download the add-on, which is typically in .zip format, and extract the files.
          • For Aircraft: Move the extracted aircraft folder into X-Plane 12\Aircraft\[Custom Aircraft Folder].
          • For Scenery: Move the scenery folder into X-Plane 12\Custom Scenery.
          • For Plugins: Move the plugin folder into X-Plane 12\Resources\plugins.
        4. Update the Scenery_packs.ini File (For Scenery Only):

          • When adding new scenery, X-Plane reads an scenery_packs.ini file in Custom Scenery to determine loading order.
          • Start X-Plane after adding scenery, then exit. This process updates scenery_packs.ini automatically. You can manually edit this file if needed to adjust scenery priority.
          • Prepar3D V6 (P3D V6)

            1. Locate the Add-ons Folder:

              • Prepar3D V6 has a dedicated add-ons folder to simplify management:
              • Typically found in C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-ons.
            2. Download and Extract:

              • Download the add-on file (usually in .zip format) and extract it.
              • Inside the extracted folder, you should find a layout similar to Add-on.xml along with other necessary files.
            3. Move the Add-on Folder:

              • Place the extracted add-on folder in the Prepar3D v6 Add-ons directory. This keeps everything organized and minimizes manual edits to the simulator’s core files.
            4. Register Add-ons in Prepar3D:

              • When you next start Prepar3D V6, it will automatically detect new add-ons in the Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-ons folder.
              • Follow the prompts within Prepar3D to enable and confirm the add-on.
            5. Alternative Installation for Some Add-ons:

              • Some add-ons, especially complex scenery or professional add-ons, may require custom installation procedures. Always refer to the specific add-on documentation for additional instructions.
